My Story
A Lifetime of Entertainment
I started magic when I was 9 years old and clowning when I was 11.
I met Hal “Shorty” Horton when I was 13 years old,
a Professional Clown with many accolades.
I became Fuzzy the Magic Clown, a white-faced clown.
He was a Professional Clown with accolades such as International Clown of the Year, National Clown for the Leukemia Society, and so much more. Hal took me on as an apprentice and taught me the Art of Clowning. I did a fair with Hal, and it was then I found out I could make money doing what I love to do. So, I combined my love of clowning with my love of magic.
I became a Professional Magician and Clown at the age of 14. I combined my talents and became a Magic Clown. I was the youngest member to join Alley 107 of the Clowns of America, which later became Clowns of America International.
My mom was a seamstress and made all my costumes throughout my career, except my last 2 outfits, which were made by Priscilla Mooseburger.
In 1992, I was diagnosed with muscle myopathy, which limited my ability to walk long distances or stand for long periods of time. I continued to perform with some modifications.
Over the years, I have attended the Mooseburger Clown Arts Camp, American Clown Academy 2.0, World Clown Association Clown Convention, Daytona Festival of Magic, and other various conventions to advance my knowledge in the art of entertainment.
Over the years, I became involved with the Lucille Ball Community Theater in Jamestown, NY, where I assisted in Audio/Visual and Set Construction. I was also a Stagehand, Actor, and Prop Handler.
I was a Magic Consultant for the production of Damn Yankees at the Hartford Stage Company in Hartford, CT.
In 2005, I went into remission and was able to maintain a normal life.
In 2015, I reopened my entertainment business and added DJ to my list of talents.
In 2017, I connected with Fun World Clown Alley in Orlando, FL. They were putting on a Clown School, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to improve my clown skills. Little did I know that it would be a major curve in my clown career. I went from White Face to Auguste, and my improv skills improved. The biggest honor I had was to have Ron Severini help me design my new Auguste Face.
I was now known as Odd-Ball the Magic Clown.
In March 2018, I was elected as the American Southeast Regional Director position for the World Clown Association and served 2 terms. I supported and promoted the art of clowning and spread joy and laughter using any of my talents, which has been my passion since I was 14.
In 2020, my muscle myopathy returned, and my ability to walk or stand for long periods became harder. I have since sold my DJ business and renamed it from Music Magic & Mayhem to Magic & Smiles. I have reopened my magic shop, and I still occasionally perform shows. I wasn’t going to let my condition stop me from doing what I loved. Putting smiles on people’s faces one way or another.
Today, I own a Brick & Mortar Magic Shop inside the Anderson Mall in Anderson, SC. I still perform from time to time because I always want to put smiles on people’s faces.
I now have a brick & mortar store located inside the Anderson Mall in Anderson, SC. I pride myself on providing the best customer service. I don’t just sell magic. I make sure the magic you are purchasing is something in your skill level unless you’re up for a challenge and get something a little above your skill level.
Not only can you see a live magic demonstration, but you will also have a good understanding of the magic you purchase instead of having to decipher the instructions.
Welcome to the World of Magic! Otherwise known as Magic & Smiles.
